Our Mission

Citizens Housing Corporation (CHC) is a nonprofit housing developer incorporated in 1992 to increase and preserve affordable housing opportunities for low-income Californians. CHC’s current portfolio includes over 3,000 units, more than 90% of which are affordable to low-income seniors and families earning between 30% to 60% of the area median income.

CHC’s diverse portfolio includes green buildings; mixed-use, transit-oriented developments; transitional housing on a former naval base; reuse of historic buildings for affordable senior and family housing; renovation of HUD Section 8 expiring use properties; and supportive housing for people with special needs.

Our Mission

  • To increase and preserve the stock of affordable housing available to low- and moderate-income households in California through the development of affordable rental, assisted living, and homeownership projects.
  • To improve the economic and social welfare of low- and moderate-income residents of Citizens Housing Corporation developments and the surrounding community by creating new models of affordable housing in partnership with social service, economic development, and community-based organizations.
